‘We’re watching the President unravel.” Trump is spiraling
The atrocities are mounting. But some Republicans are starting to push back on Trump overreach.

The atrocities are mounting. The killings by US federal immigration agents of VA ICU nurse Alex Pretti last week, and mother of three Renee Nicole Good on Jan. 7, both American citizens exercising their Constitutional rights, in Minnesota, are horrifying.
The images of roaming bands of 3000 militarized, masked ICE agents essentially at war with the residents of Minneapolis/St. Paul are shocking and haunting. At times, they feel like the prelude to a near civil war that Trump seems pathologically driven to provoke.
He has momentarily pulled back a bit, apparently pushed by the disgusted reactions of a growing number of Republican lawmakers who said that federal agents’ execution of Alex Pretti demanded an independent investigation. (This after bystander videos contradicted Trump aide Stephen Miller’s frothing and ludicrous claims that Pretti was planning to assassinate federal agents, among other typically ludicrous and false statements by Trump’s sycophantic aides and cabinet officials, including Kristi Noem.)
But the videos almost always contradict Noem’s and Miller’s--among other Trump officials--false statements. Why was this time different? Perhaps it is just the accumulation of atrocities. The country feels like it is going off a cliff. Trump will take everybody, including Republican lawmakers, down with him.
We have probably only reached a speed bump.
While Trump’s roving Border Patrol “commander at large” Greg Bovino—(likely made more disposable for Trump by the fact that he is short in all the white nationalist fascistic porn type videos that that he and Noem love to post on social media)—was apparently exiled from Minnesota and sent back home to retire shortly, he was replaced by the merely corrupt Trump “border czar” Tom Homan (the one who the FBI reportedly videoed taking a $50,000 bribe in a CAVA bag in 2024). (Homan championed the family separation policy in Trump’s first term, but has reportedly been at odds with Noem and her illegally serving de facto chief of staff/lover Corey Lewandowski).
Meantime, Trump’s on-the-outs, Assad/Putin apologist Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard appeared at an FBI raid on Wednesday (Jan. 28) at an election office in Fulton County, Georgia, seizing election material from the 2020 election that Trump lost. Among the million irregularities of the action, the warrant for the FBI seizure was reportedly signed by a judge in Missouri.
“Why did Tulsi Gabbard take part in a raid on an election office?”
“We all know the Trump administration’s strategy is to throw as much shit on the wall and see what sticks,” Sen. Mark Warner (D-Virginia), vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said in a video posted to Twitter on Thursday asking why Gabbard was involved in the raid on the Georgia election office:
While the nation was still grieving ICE’s rogue actions in Minneapolis yesterday, the Trump administration, in a move that should scare the hell out of all of us, went to seize election material from the 2020 election that Donald Trump lost in Fulton County, Georgia. …
Guess who showed up at this FBI raid? Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
Tulsi Gabbard has nothing to do with election security. Tulsi Gabbard has even been in charge of dismantling what was called the foreign malign influence center to try to make sure foreign countries don’t interfere in our elections.
This complete Trump loyalist somehow popping up on an FBI raid. What the heck was she doing?
We ought to stand up and stand up against ICE. We’ve also got to stand up and step up to protect our elections coming this year, while we’re all rightfully focused on the tragedy.”
“We’re watching the President unravel.”
“Trump lost Georgia in 2020,” Sen. Jon Ossoff, Democrat of Georgia, posted on Twitter. “But today he continued his sore loser’s crusade, with an FBI raid (!) on a Georgia election office.
“From Minnesota to Georgia, we’re watching the President unravel, weaponizing federal law enforcement for personal power and revenge,” Ossoff continued. “We must stop him.”
